When couples begin planning their wedding in Columbia, one of the first decisions is choosing a venue that feels like a reflection of their love story. As one of the experienced wedding photographers in Columbia SC, I’ve had the privilege of documenting celebrations at some of the city’s most timeless and charming spaces. Each venue carries its own personality, and after photographing weddings across the region, I’ve seen firsthand how the right setting can elevate both the celebration and the photographs.
Why Wedding Photographers in Columbia SC Recommend Local Venues
Your venue sets the stage for the story you’ll tell on your wedding day. The light, architecture, and landscapes all shape how your photographs will feel. Wedding photographers in Columbia SC know which spaces create the most timeless backdrops, blending Southern charm with artistic versatility. Here are three favorites I’ve photographed that offer unforgettable settings for couples.
Heron Hill | Callie + Patrick
Heron Hill offers a breathtaking mix of sweeping outdoor views and refined indoor spaces. When I photographed Callie and Patrick’s wedding here, the natural beauty of the grounds became the perfect canvas for their story. The expansive lawn overlooking the water created a serene backdrop for their ceremony, while the interiors provided a warm and elegant setting for portraits and details.
What I love most about photographing at Heron Hill is how versatile it is. The changing light throughout the day transforms the property, giving couples a variety of looks within one location — from golden sunsets to candlelit receptions. For couples dreaming of a venue that feels private yet picturesque, Heron Hill never disappoints.
701 Whaley | Lizzie + Aidan
701 Whaley is a Columbia icon, full of character and history. Photographing Lizzie and Aidan’s wedding there reminded me why I adore this space. Its industrial architecture, exposed brick, and large windows offer endless opportunities for creative imagery, while its scale accommodates both intimate and large celebrations with ease.
What makes 701 Whaley truly special is the way it blends history with modern style. Natural light streams through the tall windows, softening the rugged textures of the building and creating images that feel both dramatic and romantic. For couples who want a venue with personality and a bit of an edge, this space provides an unforgettable setting.
Corley Mill House | Hannah + Jackson
Corley Mill House is the definition of Southern charm. Hannah and Jackson’s wedding there highlighted everything that makes this venue beloved — sprawling grounds, a historic home, and a sense of tradition that feels welcoming and timeless. The oak trees and wraparound porches provided perfect backdrops for portraits, while the gardens created an intimate, romantic atmosphere for their ceremony.
As a photographer, I love how Corley Mill House balances elegance and comfort. The property offers countless nooks for candid, emotional moments, while the architecture grounds everything in a classic Southern aesthetic. For couples who want their wedding to feel like both a grand celebration and a gathering at home, Corley Mill House delivers.
Choosing the Right Columbia Wedding Photographer for Your Venue
Each of these venues — Heron Hill, 701 Whaley, and Corley Mill House — offers something distinct, yet all share the ability to create an unforgettable backdrop for your wedding. Having photographed weddings in each, I’ve seen how their unique features shape not just the celebration but the way stories are told through images.

Wedding Photographers in Columbia SC Share Their Venue Favorites
Hi, I'm Stee Garman, a Columbia South Carolina photographer and East Coast traveler. Photography has been a love of mine for as long as I can remember. In high school, I went through hundreds of disposable cameras. When I studied abroad in Italy, I bought my first DSLR. Once I got home, I started taking photos of families I knew - just for fun.
Those casual photos quickly turned into part-time work - as families referred me and my business began its growth. A few months later, an old college friend asked me to photograph her wedding. I was hesitant, but I agreed. From that point forward, I knew that’s where I wanted to be: in the celebration right alongside my couples. I've found my true calling in being there for couples on one of the biggest days of their lives. It's an honor I never take for granted, and one that fills me with joy - every single time.
