Rain on your wedding day is said to bring good luck, and Kelly and David’s Heron Hill wedding proved just that. Despite the drizzle, their day was nothing short of magical. From heartfelt moments to endless dancing, their celebration was a true testament to their love and joy. Heron Hill, one of my favorite venues in South Carolina, set the perfect stage with its clean, light, and airy vibe. Here’s a closer look at their special day.
Getting Ready
The day began with Kelly and her bridal party getting ready in Heron Hill’s bright and spacious bridal suite. The natural light streaming through the windows created a serene atmosphere, perfect for capturing those intimate getting-ready moments. Kelly was radiant as her makeup artist applied the finishing touches, and her bridesmaids couldn’t hold back their excitement. Meanwhile, David and his groomsmen were all laughs as they prepped in the groom’s quarters, sharing stories and making memories.
First Look with Dad
Before heading to the ceremony, Kelly shared an emotional first look with her dad. The moment was filled with tears and smiles as he saw his daughter in her stunning gown for the first time. These quiet, heartfelt moments are always some of my favorites to capture, and Kelly’s dad’s reaction was absolutely priceless.
Ceremony
As the rain continued, Kelly and David’s team quickly adapted by setting up a tent for the ceremony. The gentle sound of rain tapping on the tent added an unexpected charm to the vows. Kelly walked down the aisle with grace, her smile lighting up the room as David’s eyes filled with emotion. The couple exchanged heartfelt vows, surrounded by their closest friends and family, proving that a little rain couldn’t dampen their love.
Photos with Families, Bridal Party, and Getaway Car
After the ceremony, we moved on to family and bridal party portraits. Heron Hill’s picturesque landscape provided a gorgeous backdrop, even with the cloudy skies. The bridal party was a joy to photograph, their energy and laughter making the session fly by.
The real fun began when Kelly and David hopped into their getaway car for some couple’s portraits. The vintage car added a touch of glamour to their photos, and we had a blast capturing their playful and romantic moments.
Cake Cutting
One of the highlights of the evening was the cake cutting. Kelly and David’s playful sides shone as things got a little messy, but Kelly’s bright smile made it clear she was having the time of her life. These candid moments are what make wedding days so special and unique.
Reception
Hudson’s BBQ catered the reception, serving up a delicious spread of broccoli soup, chicken bog, and shrimp and grits. Guests couldn’t stop raving about the food, and the Southern-inspired menu perfectly complemented the relaxed yet elegant vibe of the day.
The DJ kept the dance floor packed all night. From classic hits to modern favorites, every guest found their groove. Kelly and David’s first dance was a picture of elegance, and the energy from their guests created an unforgettable party atmosphere.
Sparkler Exit
As the night came to a close, Kelly and David made their grand exit under a tunnel of sparklers. Their guests cheered them on as they walked hand in hand, their faces glowing with happiness. It was the perfect ending to a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Kelly and David’s Rainy Day Heron Hill Wedding in Gilbert, SC
Hi, I'm Stee Garman, a Columbia South Carolina photographer and East Coast traveler. Photography has been a love of mine for as long as I can remember. In high school, I went through hundreds of disposable cameras. When I studied abroad in Italy, I bought my first DSLR. Once I got home, I started taking photos of families I knew - just for fun.
Those casual photos quickly turned into part-time work - as families referred me and my business began its growth. A few months later, an old college friend asked me to photograph her wedding. I was hesitant, but I agreed. From that point forward, I knew that’s where I wanted to be: in the celebration right alongside my couples. I've found my true calling in being there for couples on one of the biggest days of their lives. It's an honor I never take for granted, and one that fills me with joy - every single time.
